Bitch Fest 2009

So yesterday I sent an email to Spatini telling them I was upset to find out that my 100 dollar gift card that I had yet to use expired in 5 days. I was never told about an expiration date. The owner of Spatini called me yesterday to tell me that if I was upset she would honor the gift card longer....and then proceeded to yell at me about how harsh my email was and how personally she took it. I told her that I was upset and that I would have appreciated it (when I bought Alia's giftcard) as well as those who bought my own gift card, a simple "This card is only good for 6 months"

In my email, I also told her that it would be hard to recommend this spa to people I knew. She told me how wonderful her spa is, how dare I say I wouldn't recommend this place to people. She asks me this question while she's yelling...so I say "Not only did I feel that I wouldn't recommend this place before I wrote the email...do you think my feelings changed AFTER you're screaming at me on the phone?"

She told me that this is her business and she has the right to make her gift cards last as long or as short as she would like...I told her..."One thing I'm sure of, in business, is when the customer is upset....the owner/manager does whatever it takes to make it better.. You certainly don't get repeat customers by yelling at the customer when they are upset." She told me that the conversation did take a bad turn, but that's life. Life doesn't always go the way we want it to" *I actually laughed when she said that.

At least 20 times I asked "ARE YOU KIDDING ME??" at things she said that I couldn't believe an owner of a business would yell at her customers...I also added the line(when she was schooling me on business and how I didn't understand busines). "I don't know who you think you're dealing with...I'm not an uneducated dumb ass" She told me that she was tired of customer calling to complain about the gift card expiring. She told me a story about a woman that called her earlier asking why her card had expired and her husband was yelling in the background "THIS IS CRAZY! WHAT THEYRE DOING IS ILLEGAL!" Which seems to me he also didn't get the memo about the expiration date and was pissed that he lost all his money to this spa.

All in all I wrote an email which is as low key as you can get. I coulda called and yelled at her, I could have gone to the spa and made a scene...I wrote an email between me and her.
-I asked her at one point mid-conversation while she was yelling about how I hurt her feelings "Are you telling me you've never had any customers complain about losing their money due to not knowing about the gift card expiration date?" She told me "Never in the past two years have I ever gotten a complaint as harsh as yours" (Which I found really funny, because she told me a story about a man who was screaming on the phone saying what she was doing with her business was illegal!" haha.

Hmmm. I must just have a way with words that gets people fired up! MAN! I should be a writer! I wanted to tell this lady "Thank you for creating a story that I will cherish forever!"

Anyhow...after the funniest moment of my life...aka that phone call, which will go down in my life as the most confusing argument on the phone) I hand sculpted me a little man in clay class. After of course I ranted to my pottery teacher about the spa...which she got a good chuckle out of.

Here are my pics-
